Fusion Applications Final(ly) no more Beta version!

On 22 may 2011 Oracle released Oracle Fusion Applications R1 Beta version and was available for download from eDelivery. Yesterday (04 October 2011 ) at Oracle Open World 2011, Oracle announced general availability of Oracle Fusion Applications. This final version is now also available for download from eDelivery.

So what has changed from Beta to Final?

Oracle Fusion Applications still support following OS:

  • Linux x86-64

  • Oracle Solaris

  • IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-Bit)

  • Microsoft Windows x64 (64-Bit)

Although only Linux x86-64 is still available for download from eDelivery.

Beta version download consisted of 11 DVD's, Documentation and separate Oracle Identity and Access Management suite.

The Final version consists of 13 DVD's, Documentation and Oracle Identity and Access Management suite shipped within the 13 DVD's.

The biggest change from Beta to Final is that all shipped Fusion Middleware is now on version 11.1.1.5 , whereas the Beta version the FMW components were at different versions (OAM 11.1.15, FMW RCU 11.1.1.4, Weblogic 10.3.4, IDM 11.1.1.3). This was quite confusing for most of us, since these version are not fully compatible and also not certified.

What do we get when we extract the 13 DVD's?

With the Beta release I downloaded the IDM/OAM 11.1.1.5 suite manually from the Oracle site, to make sure all components where at the same level. With the Final release is has been fixed.

So, are all the posts written until now incorrect?

As stated, fortunately, I downloaded all IDM 11.1.1.5 component manually and did not use the versions shipped. All post until now have been created with FMW components 11.1.1.5 and this is the version that is shipped with the final version, therefor we were on the right track and we can proceed installation and not start all over.

The installation manual has also been updated, but still lacks the installation screenshots that I would have expected.

Release notes of this version 11.1.1.5.1 can be found here.

    Hi,
Thanks for all the usefull posts regarding installation of Oracle Fusion Apps. I agree that Oracle documentation is not very easy to follow and people like me have to find related blogs to get easy steps for using Oracle software like Oracle fusion for trial.
